Remains of a Roman tower - part of the ancient fortress wall of Odessos - Varna

During the construction of housing cooperatives (~60 years of the 20th century) on Primorski Blvd., a fortress wall and a tower were discovered, which are dated to the period of late antiquity. The uncovered fortifications are characterized by the Roman construction tradition of the Late Antiquity period. Parts of the late antique fortress wall have been detected in several places in Varna, on the basis of which its northern route has been completely determined.

At the moment, the archaeological excavations are closed in an underground shaft, located under a housing cooperative, which somewhat helps to preserve its material substance. The object is not socialized and there is no public access to it.
